Sponsored by ATA the leading service provider of testing and assessment, the 10th International Conference on Testing Methodologies and Technologies , took place at Park Hyatt Beijing on December 10,.

 

The conference was attended by more than 500 participants from various social sectors, including experts and scholars from Chinese and foreign assessmentcommunities, test sponsors, corporate HR managers, education institutions, assessment agencies, and media. As the global HR world is going through transformation, , HR management in China, particularly talent assessment, selection and development, has been regarded as the key to winning the upcoming “war for talents” for industries and enterprises in China. The conference focused on talent assessment and management in China with a major theme of “achieving excellent talent management with precise competency evaluation. Experts and scholars in the field of testing and assessment from home and abroad were invited to deliver keynote speeches and share their insights at the roundtable forum of the Conference.

Dr. William G. Harris, CEO of ATP (Association of Test Publishers), also gave a speech at the Conference. During his speech, Dr. Harris gave high remarks to ATA for its efforts to promote the communication in the assessment industry between China and the rest of the world and to drive the development of China’s testing and assessment.

During the keynote speeches of the Conference, Mr. David Bearfield, Director of European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO), shared EPSO’s latest methodologies, technologies and methods, as well as its successful cases in talent evaluation, recruitment and selection.


 Department, ICBC (Industrial and Commercial Bank of China), introduced ICBC’s administration system in employee evaluation, assessment, selection and appointment, and demonstrated and shared its concepts and methods in the assessment of employee position qualification and in the evaluation of employee capability at their posts. His demonstration won high attention and praise from the participants present.

During her keynote speech, Dr. Liu Ying, Dean of ATA Assessment Research Institute, based on the context of China’s current social and economic development and reform, gave a comprehensive interpretation of the problems and challenges facing the nation’s various industries and enterprises in talent cultivation, evaluation, selection, development and management, and put forth the idea of “establishing a talent evaluation system in which the industry, enterprises and colleges can complement each other”. At the roundtable forum at the latter half of the Conference, at the invitation of Dr. Liu Ying, who moderated the roundtable forum, Mr. Tang Qiuyong, General Manager of HRoot, David Bearfield, Director of EPSO, Mr. Cui Zhuwang, Head of Test and Certification Administration Office, Education Department, ICBC, and Mr. Ma Xiaofeng, Chairman and CEO of ATA, aired their own insights on how to achieve excellent talent management with precise competency evaluation. Their heated discussion received a warm response from the guests present, who also joined them in the discussion.
