ATA Launches Campaigns to Promote TOEIC as Vocational English Standard

On July 24, 2009, ATA invited HR managers and recruiters from well-known multinational companies, state-owned enterprises and English training institutions in Beijing to a conference introducing TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) as the vocational English assessment standard. This is one of the 7 stops in a series of campaigns to promote the test in China since ATA and ETS signed exclusive country master agreement for TOEIC business earlier this year. Other 6 stops include cities like Shanghai, Suzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dalian, and Chengdu.

 

The conference aimed to introduce to the audience TOEIC as the widely acknowledged standard for workforce English communication abilities and TOEIC test delivery services ATA provides. Representatives from ETS China introduced the history and the development of TOEIC as the standard for workforce English assessment. As the test delivery service provider, ATA representatives introduced the services ATA provides for TOEIC. The conference also announced the 2009 campus recruitment plan where HR managers and recruiters would leverage TOEIC to test the English abilities of job applicants.

 

Multinational companies including Canon, Ericsson, BOE Technologies Group and assessment and training institutions such as National Office for Professional Skills Assessment and Stanford English participated in the conference.
