The Advanced Financial Management Associate (AFMA) is China’s first program for advanced financial managers, which was initially proposed in 2010 by Mr. Dar Yeh Hwang, Chairman of Banking Education Association of Taiwan, and Mr. Zhou Qifeng, President of Peking University, to showcase China’s economic strength and international leadership. In the same year, the AFMA program was put into practice by Mr. Liu Wei, Vice President of Peking University, Mr. Zhang Zheng, Party Secretary of School of Economics of Peking University, Mr. Wang Dashu, Professor of School of Economics of Peking University, and Mr. Hsiou-Wei Lin, Professor of National Taiwan University.

Unlike the CFA program of the United States, the AFMA program is characterized with all questions formulated in Chinese, emphasis on corporate financial management and finance and economics laws/regulations from both Taiwan and Mainland China, full involvement of prestigious universities and professors from both sides of the Straits, and staunch support from the regulatory authorities of both sides, and endorsement from top-grade financial institutions of the two sides. The program offers credentials to three levels of financial professionals, including FMA, FMA+ and CFMA. Those who obtain the credential will be qualified to work in those areas such as risk management, securities investment analysis, wealth management and corporate finance.
