"Innovative Journey of Campus Recruitment and Selection” - ATA 2015 Seminar on Talent Selection, Innovation and Practice of University Graduates Held Successfully

The school year of 2013-2014 was named “the most difficult employment season in history”. However, the number of graduates in 2015 will reach 7.27 million with an increase of 280,000 compared with that in 2014. To promote the employment of university graduates, the Ministry of Education and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council jointly issued “Notice on Relative Items of Arranging the 2013-2014 Recruitment of University Graduates  by State-Owned Enterprises’ ” in 2013, requiring state-owned enterprises to actively fulfill their social responsibilities, strengthen talent reserves, expand the recruitment scale reasonably and strive to recruit more university graduates than those in previous years. It’s emphasized in the Notice that state-owned enterprises should establish and perfect their rules and regulations on the management of university graduates’ recruitment and make clear principles, procedures, implementation measures and disciplinary requirements of the employment, adhere to the rule that “personnel should take exams before recruitment” and set up a correct guide in selecting and employing the personnel. A few days ago, General Office of the State Council issued “Notice on Arranging Employment and New Business Startup of 2014 National University Graduates Well”, which stipulated again that enterprises should further create a fair employment environment and relevant departments in all parts should actively take measures to promote fair employment. 




In response to instructions of the various departments, ATA held a seminar on the subject of “2015 Talent Selection, Innovation and Practice of University Graduates” in Beijing on August 15, 2014. A great number of HR representatives from State Grid Corporation of China, China National Nuclear Corporation, People’s Daily and many other state-owned enterprises and companies directly subordinate to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council were present and participated in the discussion. 

 

At the Seminar, Ms. Wang Qiushi from the Assessment Institute of ATA first shared with the attendees the topic of “Technical Innovations in Campus Recruitment Exercises of State-owned Enterprises”. Based on strong R & D strength and operation experience of many years, ATA successfully developed various item presentation technologies such as performance-based simulation items, drag & drop, matching questions, coloring questions, case studies, formula editing questions, language ability test items and other new technologies of human-computer dialogue and human-computer interaction. In simple words, Ms. Wang Qiushi explained how to apply these testing technologies to campus recruitment and implementation techniques of different item presentation technologies to assist enterprises in talent selection.


 


Subsequently, Mr. Sun Yue, Vice-President of ATA, exchanged ideas on the specific implementation measures of innovative talents’ selection techniques in campus recruitment with the participants. Mr. Sun Yue and Ms. Wang Qiushi's sharing aroused great interest and responses among the participants. Mr. Liu, a representative from State Grid Corporation of China which has used the HR services of ATA for many years, stated that the fairness and justice achieved from applying ATA assessment service to campus recruitment assessment aligns exactly with the direction of personnel selection and employmenadvocated by the government, it also helps redress the bad practice in traditional recuiting whereas HR departments have to balance and mediate the interests of all parties. HR directors from China Merchants Bank, Ifeng and other companies also spelled out many of the actual problems in their previous campus recruitment activities and Mr. Sun Yue, Vice-President of ATA, addressed their concerns one by one. Meanwhile, he stated that the original intention of the seminar was to establish an exchange platform for HR directors of all enterprises to share views on industry topics, explore innovations together to tackle the actual issues faced by enterprises in all aspects of talent “selection, employment, cultivation and retention”on an ongoing basis.
